What is Canada Poker Club?
A poker game set in a Halifax card room. You play No-Limit Hold'em and its cousins against the club's regulars, bet on a curling lane, and learn from a coach called the Skip. It is free, plays offline, and uses virtual chips only.
Is this real-money gambling?
No. The chips are virtual: they are won and lost at the club and stay there. Nothing can be bought, wagered or cashed out, and there are no prizes outside the game.
Who am I playing against?
The club's regulars: Moose, Priya, Gord, Tyler and Nan at the Ceilidh Room, with Angus “Reel” MacLean as Nova Scotia's boss. They are computer players, each with a style, tells and a mood that changes through the night.
Which games can I play?
No-Limit Hold'em at the Kitchen cash table and the Sit & Go. At the Kitchen Party, every dealer calls the game for their hand: No-Limit Hold'em, Pot-Limit Omaha or Five-Card Draw. The boss match is heads-up Hold'em.
What is the curling lane?
The club's bet control. Slide the stone along a curling sheet to size your bet: the hog line is the minimum raise, the rings are a third, a half and two thirds of the pot, the tee line is the pot and the back line is all in.
Who is the Skip?
Marguerite “Skip” Doucet, the club's coach. She plants her broom where she would bet and says why. You can set her to coach fully, show only her broom, or stay quiet.
What are chirps?
Table talk with an edge. Once an orbit you can chirp a regular with one of four lines. They steam, answer back, and play looser on tilt. Push Moose too far and he leaves the table with his chips.
What does Run, Décharge or Portage mean?
When players are all in with cards to come, the table votes on how many boards to deal: Run is one board, Décharge is two and Portage is three. The fewest boards anyone votes for is the one dealt.
How do I get more chips?
Win them at the tables, throw the Morning Draw each day, and claim the milestone pins waiting in your Locker. Your chips are kept in your Reserve.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. The club plays offline and needs no account. A few things in the app, such as the privacy and terms pages, open web pages and need a connection.
Which parts of Canada are open?
Nova Scotia, at the Ceilidh Room in Halifax. More of Canada opens in later updates.
When can I download it?
Canada Poker Club is coming soon. Follow the store buttons on this site to find it when it opens.
What does the club collect about me?
The game keeps your progress on your phone and needs no account. The Privacy Policy explains what is collected and why.
